The rollers universe

Winter, bad weather, the specific improvement of singular capabilities and techniques or simply not enough time: there are dozens of reasons for the increasing popularity of the rollers category.

Because of the multitude of the offerings and the rapid technological development it is getting increasingly confusing which system suits best for each Aufgrund der Vielfalt der Angebote und der rasanten Weiterentwicklung der Technik wird es aber auch zunehmend unübersichtlicher, welches System für einen persönlich geeignet ist.

The neutral overview to help you to make your decision

This web site tries to provide you with information on all facettes around the topic of "indoor cycling". The target of indoor-training is to provide all interested users with a neutral source of information on "cycle training within your own 4 walls". We tackle all aspects from hardware and software over additional products to cycling communities and general developments within this environment. But also the soft skills such as nutrition or training plans will have their space.

Besides the hardware - the trainer as such - the software in the form of the different simulators will become ever more important and also more powerful.

Why not go outside the first place?

There is very little better for a cyclist better than rolling through a beautiful scenery on a sunny spring or summer day on a smooth surface. Unfortunately within most countries that is not so easily possible both from a geographical as a climate point of view.

A roller trainer of course cannot really replace the feeling of outdoor cycling. But beside from that a roller trainer provides a number of advantages that can almost level this single disadvantage:

  • Weather independance
No matter what the weather is outside - with a roller trainer the exterior environmental conditions such as rain, wind or temperatures play no role. Especially when preparing for a competition by doing repititive trainings that may be an advantage. Unfortunatley that smashes the argument why - sorry, sorry - one had no opportunity for preparation respective to do proper training...
  • Optimal conditions
Who has a hill with absolutely constant incline right in front of his or her own door that would be optimal for mountain training? Or how safe do you feel in the wild when doing single leg training while lots of cars pass you from behind or pedestrians cross your path ? Using a roller trainer one can concentrate completely on the task at hand with persistent parameters such as incline - totally untouched by external influences.
  • Routes from all over the world
If you do not call the Alpes or a comparable beautiful countryside your home then you will except during holidays not have very many chances to ride a pass in the Alpes or some beautiful country lane. Even though a screen display cannot replace real life it is very if you can ride some of the most beautiful rides on the planet at least in a video.
In some apps one can even choose from events that in real life are only possible on certain days such as a bike ride on the Nurbürg Ring or participating in a RTF such as the Vattenfall classics. Not everyone can participate in these events as one does not have time nor maybe the physical condition.
  • Ride any time you like
If one is still - such as me - participating in working life and therefore cannot get on the bike at any chosen time, then a roller trainer is worth its weight in gold. You can get on your bike at any time during day or night and do your training pensum. Especially when having a family life it is a massive advantage if the training units and other requirements do not interfere.
  • Applying Occam's razor
When trying to obtain certain goals such as perfecting your climbing capabilities then especially these parts of the track should be within your focus. But if the chosen hill / mountain unfortunately is just a bit too far away so you are to exhausted when finally reaching the start of the track and then start your training session: a roller trainer is your tool of choice. After your individual warm up you can directly attack your mountain and even more you do not have to ride home afterwards, but can directly turn on the shower after the cool down - how much more focus can one get ?
